Why Won’t My GPU Fit into the PCIe Slot?

I'm working with an ASUS ProArt X870E motherboard, and I'm having issues getting my GPU to sit properly in the PCIe slot. The larger part of the PCIe connector goes in fine, but there's a small part that won't fit. It feels like there's a metal latch inside the PCIe slot blocking it. Has anyone else experienced this or know what to do?

I don't really understand the whole metal latch thing inside the PCIe slot. I've got the same ProArt motherboard, and I haven't encountered anything like that. A picture would really help us see the problem better!

Here’s the link to the image showing the issue: https://imgur.com/a/Q2Bt3cV. It's in the top two PCIe slots.

Are you trying to angle the card in instead of pushing it straight down? That can sometimes cause issues. Make sure to press it evenly when installing.

It might help to share a picture of the issue. Sometimes visual references can clarify what's really going on. If you could upload it, that'd be great!

It sounds like the GPU's backplate might be hitting the case right by the motherboard. I've had to bend the backplate of my cards a little to get them to fit. You could try adjusting it slightly away from the card to see if that helps.

No, it's not that. There's actually a piece of metal inside the PCIe slot on the ASUS quick release slots. It's opposite the clips and is near the I/O side. It moves when I trigger the quick release feature, but I can't push through it.
