Last week, my Lenovo Ideapad just shut down unexpectedly and hasn't turned back on since. When I plug it in, the battery light turns on, but that's about it. Before it shut down, I was in the middle of recording music using an audio interface, and the PC wouldn't connect to it. I tried restarting to resolve that issue, but then it just powered off completely. Also, I noticed that many apps were running slower prior to the shutdown. I'm wondering if the battery is the problem, but I'd like a second opinion before I buy a new one, as it might be a different issue altogether.

It sounds like your AC adapter might be the real culprit here. If your PC was slow and suddenly wouldn't power on or charge, there's a good chance the adapter is dead even if the battery seems fine. You might want to check if you've received any warnings like "AC adapter not recognized" because that could confirm the issue.
If you were recording when it shut down, it's possible that the forced restart could have caused some issues, especially if the system was writing data. If you're not comfortable troubleshooting, it could be worth taking it to a computer repair shop. They'll be able to check both the battery and the adapter for you.
I was just worried about losing my work since I was recording music at that moment.

I didn't get any warnings like that, and the PC wasn't really low on battery when it abruptly shut down.
