Why won’t my new 1TB SATA HDD initialize?

I recently got a 1TB SATA hard drive for extra storage, thinking I'd use it for my videos and pictures. I realized it's actually a surveillance hard drive, but I believe it should still work for my needs. The problem is that while my PC detects it, I can't access the available space and I keep getting an I/O error when I try to initialize it. It's showing up as Disk 0, and my main NVMe drive is Disk 1. I have an Alienware R16 running Windows 11, and the SATA drive is from MDD (MaxDigitalData). I've tried restarting after reseating the cables, reinstalling the driver, and switching to a different motherboard port, as well as using cmd to run chkdsk, but nothing has worked so far.

I faced a similar issue before and ended up sending the drive back as defective. The replacement worked perfectly right away when I tried to initialize it. You might want to consider that if it's still under warranty.

Yeah, I’m thinking that might be my next option, though I'm worried it's been a month and a half since I bought it.
