I've just built a new PC using a Gigabyte B650 Aorus Elite AX V2 motherboard, but it's not detecting the Ethernet cable at all. I've tested the same cable and router port on my old PC, and they work fine. On the new machine, the Ethernet connection shows no status, and there are no blinking lights on the LAN port when I plug in the cable.
Here's what I've tried so far:
- Installing and reinstalling the LAN drivers.
- Restarting the PC multiple times.
- Removing the CMOS battery.
- Checking the BIOS settings related to LAN.
- Testing with different ports on the router.
Wi-Fi is functioning perfectly, but I'm lost when it comes to fixing the wired connection. I'm starting to wonder if the motherboard or the BIOS is the problem. Any ideas or suggestions would really help!

Make sure you have the correct Ethernet drivers installed. If not, downloading them from the manufacturer's website could solve your issue!
First, check the Device Manager to see if the Ethernet card is recognized. You want to look for any error indicators like a yellow triangle or error codes. Sometimes, just removing and reinstalling the device can fix driver issues, so give that a shot if you see it listed.
Additionally, you can create a USB Linux live drive and boot from that. It’s a good way to check if the Ethernet port is working outside of your current operating system.
Also, check if your Ethernet is enabled in the BIOS settings. Sometimes, it may be disabled by default. Make sure you have the appropriate drivers for the Realtek chipset that your motherboard uses too.
I checked the BIOS and installed the drivers, but no change.

If the network adapter appears in Device Manager, try deleting it and its drivers, then restart your PC. That often clears up these types of problems.
