I recently built a new PC using a Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX V2 motherboard and a Corsair 4000 Airflow case. I'm using an 850-watt power supply from an old build. When I switch the PSU on, the fans briefly light up green, but pressing the power button doesn't do anything. I've tried connecting the front panel cable both with and without an adapter, and even unplugged the PSU to rule out any power draw issues. What steps should I take to troubleshoot this? Also, I did a paper clip test on the PSU and the fans spun, so I'm beginning to think it might be a problem with the motherboard. Are there ways to test that?

If you're confident the pins are correct, then try removing the power switch connectors and test jumping the motherboard pins directly. If that still doesn't work, it strongly suggests a problem with the motherboard itself.
Make sure you've connected the power switch to the correct pins on the motherboard. If you're uncertain, double-check the manual to confirm the pin layout. It could also be worth trying to jump the motherboard pins with a screwdriver to bypass the power switch completely—sometimes the switch can be faulty.
