Why won’t my PC boot with new 3600MHz RAM?

I recently upgraded my RAM from 16GB 3200MHz to 32GB 3600MHz. The new RAM seems to work fine when I run it at 3200MHz, but my PC refuses to boot when I switch to 3600MHz. To revert back to the BIOS, I have to put the old RAM back in to change the settings. Is there a simpler way to handle this? I'm wondering if there's a compatibility issue with my motherboard and the new RAM. According to Newegg and the motherboard packaging, it supports 3600MHz. My motherboard is an Asus Prime x470 Pro.

You could always try to loosen the timings a bit and then test the RAM at 3600MHz. Sometimes that helps stabilize it. Just be cautious and increase it step by step if you attempt that.

If you're only able to run the RAM at 2133MHz with XMP/DOCP off, then the RAM might not be fully compatible with your motherboard's capabilities at that speed. It’s worth checking the QVL (Qualified Vendor List) for your motherboard to see if your specific RAM model is listed.

First off, you might want to check if your BIOS is updated. Sometimes, newer RAM just needs the latest BIOS to work properly. Also, have you tried disabling XMP/DOCP when you have the old RAM in? It could help in getting the new RAM to boot at 3600MHz later on.

Yeah, I just updated my CPU and GPU and the BIOS went smoothly. The XMP/DOCP is turned off but when I put the new RAM in, it only runs at 2133MHz. Do you think that’s expected?
