Why won’t my PC connect to the TV via HDMI while my laptop works just fine?

I recently bought a new HDMI cable and attempted to connect my PC to my TV using the GPU's HDMI port to the TV's HDMI 1 input. Unfortunately, the TV just shows a 'no signal' message. Interestingly, when I connect my laptop to the same HDMI port, it works without any problems. I'm not sure what's going on with my PC. Any ideas?

Have you tried pressing Windows key + P? That lets you choose your output device, or you can check it in the display settings. Also, rebooting the PC with only the TV connected might help. Some TVs won't show anything until you're fully booted into Windows because they don’t support certain BIOS resolutions.

I tried the project mode settings, but it just said it couldn't find another display. I also rebooted my TV. It's a TLC Smart TV with 3840 x 2160 resolution, while my PC runs at 1920 x 1080. What do you mean by the BIOS/POST resolution not being supported?
