Why won’t my PC go to sleep properly?

I'm pretty frustrated with my PC because it won't go to sleep, even though I've tried a bunch of fixes. I've had this issue for about a year but only started troubleshooting it three months ago. Whenever I try to put it to sleep using the start menu or power button, the monitor turns off but the fans keep running for 20-30 minutes. I'm running Windows 10 and have already attempted quite a few things:

- I used powercfg to check for anything preventing sleep.
- Disabled all peripheral devices.
- Checked the BIOS settings.
- Tried different driver overrides.
- Disabled hibernate.
- Turned off fast boot, hybrid sleep, wake timers, and made adjustments to power plans.

At this point, I'm really at a loss and don't want to keep forcing shutdowns or racking up my electricity bill as my PC isn't going to sleep after 30 minutes. Just sharing the specs in case they help: ASUS, BIOS 1661, Intel i7-14700K, 32GB RAM, RTX 3090. Any suggestions would be great!

Have you checked the wake timers? I faced a similar issue on Windows 11, and it turned out to be a combination of disabling wake timers, preventing wake from Ethernet, and turning off hibernate that finally solved it for me. Also, try running powercfg /sleepstudy and see if you can spot anything weird from the report. It helped me discover why my PC was waking at certain times.

Yeah, I did disable the wake timers and hibernate. When I ran powercfg, it indicated HDAudio might be causing issues since I was listening to music. I’ve got an override for that device, but I also ran sleepstudy and will check the report for any insights.
