Why won’t my PC recognize my headphones when plugged in?

I'm having a bit of a problem with my PC not recognizing my headphones. The headphones work perfectly on my phone, and I've tested Bluetooth AirPods with my PC too—they connect just fine. However, whenever I plug my headphones into the PC, there's just no response. I've made sure that both jacks are in the right places, so I'm at a loss here. Any thoughts?

Are you plugging your headphones into the motherboard or the headphone jack on your case? Depending on where you connect them, it can affect the sound detection.

You might want to check if the audio output has switched to something else, like your monitor. Just click the speaker icon near the clock, then hit the options button next to the volume slider. You can try selecting different output options there.
