Why won’t my PC recognize my second monitor?

I'm really struggling with my PC not recognizing my second monitor. It's actually duplicating the display to that monitor, but I can't seem to get it to extend the screen. I've already tried a bunch of things like updating my drivers, making sure Windows is up to date, and using the WIN+P shortcut to switch to Extend mode. I've even rebooted with the cable unplugged, but nothing seems to help. The issue started right after I downloaded a lengthy Twitch VOD, which was a pretty large file. So I'm guessing it's not a virus, but I'm at a complete loss here.

I know how annoying this can be! Besides checking the display settings, have you tried using different cables or ports for the monitor? Sometimes a faulty cable can cause these issues. Also, make sure the monitor is powered on and set to the correct input source.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely check the cables and input settings.

It sounds like you're having a frustrating time! Since you've tried most basic troubleshooting steps, check if the display settings under WIN+X and then SETTINGS, DISPLAY look alright. Sometimes, if those settings aren't configured properly, it could cause recognition issues.
