Why won’t my RAID enclosure recognize my hard drives?

I've purchased four 8TB hard drives for a RAID enclosure. I set the enclosure to a regular mode where it should detect the drives separately, but I'm having trouble. My computer isn't recognizing the drives at all. The lights on the enclosure stay blue for about 30 seconds before turning solid red without any blinking. I've also tried each drive individually in the enclosure, but I still get the same result with the red light after 30 seconds. I'm feeling really stuck and could use some help!

It sounds like a possible setup issue. Since you mentioned only USB or SATA, it could be that your enclosure doesn't support some drives without additional formatting. Have you checked the manual for troubleshooting steps? Sometimes, there's a specific order in which the drives need to be installed or powered up.

True, but if the enclosure isn't showing up in any device manager, it might be a bigger problem. Maybe test it with a single known working drive?

Have you checked if the drives are properly initialized? If the enclosure isn't detecting them, it might be that they haven’t been set up yet. Can you access the enclosure settings or is there a manual available? You might need to connect it to a different computer to rule out any issues there.

Yeah, if the enclosure isn't recognized at all, initialization could be out of the question. You might need to see if the enclosure is getting enough power or check the USB/SATA connections.
