I'm trying to access files from my Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 HDD, which is around 15-17 years old, but I'm having trouble getting it to connect. I'm not very knowledgeable about hard drives, so I'm not sure how to troubleshoot. I have an adapter that claims to be working, but I don't hear any connection sounds or see the drive appearing in my file locations. Can anyone help me figure out how to get this HDD working?

First, can you let us know if it's an IDE or SATA drive? It matters for the adapter you're using. If it's not connecting, it might be worth checking the type of adapter you have. Sometimes an ATA drive needs a specific kind of connection, so make sure the adapter supports that. Just double-check everything and let us know!
Have you tried updating the firmware for the adapter? Sometimes older drives need a firmware update to work properly with modern systems. It might help in recognizing the drive correctly. Just check the manufacturer's site for the latest updates!

I think it's the Sabrent 2.5 USB connector you mentioned. Also, it’s important to know whether it's an IDE or SATA because they require different setups. ATA drives can sometimes be finicky with USB adapters, so maybe try a different connection if possible.
