I'm looking to upgrade my HP ENVY Convertible 15m-bp1xx with a Samsung 990 EVO 1TB NVMe SSD, which is a Gen 4 device. The manual mentions compatibility with 512GB drives but doesn't clarify if a 1TB drive would be supported. I'm hoping someone can provide insight into whether the NVMe standard allows for this upgrade.

Yes, PCIe devices like NVMe SSDs are generally backward compatible, so your Gen 4 SSD should work fine in a Gen 3 slot. Also, most laptops don't have strict limitations on SSD capacity, so you should be good to go with that 1TB Samsung!

I agree with what TechieGuru89 said! Plus, the NVMe spec can handle really large drives, far beyond what's typical in laptops right now. Just make sure to check your laptop's BIOS settings after the installation to confirm the SSD is recognized.
