Will a Ryzen 7 7800X3D Hold Back an RTX 5080?

I'm in the process of building a gaming PC designed to run at 1440p (2560x1440 - 144Hz) and I've decided to go with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D for my CPU. Right now, I'm debating between the RTX 5080 and the 5070 Ti. Some bottleneck calculators online mention a potential 7% CPU bottleneck with the 5080. I'm curious if this is a real concern for actual gaming performance or just in synthetic tests. Additionally, will I see any advantages from the 5080 at 1440p, or would the 5070 Ti pair better with my setup for this resolution? I'm aiming for smooth gameplay and want to future-proof my rig without overspending on unnecessary power. I'd really appreciate any insight, especially from those with similar systems!

Honestly, those bottleneck calculators are pretty useless. I wouldn't stress about it at all. The Ryzen 7 7800X3D is an excellent CPU and will handle the RTX 5080 just fine without any notable issues in real gaming scenarios. Just enjoy your setup!

I have the same combo (7800X3D with 5080) for 1440p gaming, and it's been flawless. Ignore the bottleneck calculators; they don't reflect real-world performance at all.

With the 7800X3D being one of the top gaming CPUs, it shouldn't bottleneck the RTX 5080. If you're looking for smooth performance, this combo is perfect. Just don't pay attention to all the marketing fluff that suggests otherwise!

That's great to hear! Just out of curiosity, if the 7800X3D is among the top, what CPU do you consider second best?
