Will an i5-12400F and RTX 4060 handle 1080p gaming well?

I'm planning to build a new PC and I'm considering an i5-12400F paired with an RTX 4060 and 16GB of DDR5 RAM. I'm curious if this setup will let me run graphically demanding games at a steady 60 FPS without using DLSS. Also, how does ray tracing performance hold up with this configuration? I'm moving on from an older GTX 970 and an i7-6700K with 16GB RAM, and I'm choosing this setup because it's within my budget and readily available. I've thought about upgrading to an RTX 4070, but the price difference is significant. Any insights would be appreciated!

Your setup isn't terrible for 1080p gaming, but keep in mind a couple of things: 16GB of RAM is okay for now, but you might want to consider 32GB for future-proofing, especially by 2025. Also, the 8GB VRAM of the RTX 4060 could become a limitation at high settings in demanding games at 1080p. There aren't many better options at this price point unless you look for newer GPUs when they're released, but it's worth keeping an eye out for them!

Thanks for the advice! I’ll do more research on the RAM and GPU options.

If you're focused on Nvidia GPUs, I'd suggest looking at the upcoming 5060 Ti with 16GB of VRAM for better performance. AMD's new 9060 XT is also launching soon, so waiting for that could give you more choices!

Got it! I’ll keep an eye on those upcoming releases.
