I recently got a new iPhone 17, but unfortunately, it got submerged in water and is now unusable. Since I still have regular AppleCare (not AppleCare+), I'm wondering if they would provide me with a replacement phone. If they do, what would I be looking at in terms of replacement costs? Also, I use T-Mobile, so I'm not sure if that makes a difference. Thanks for any insights you can provide!

Unfortunately, regular AppleCare doesn't cover any kind of accidental damage like water exposure. It's essentially a standard warranty that only takes care of manufacturing defects. If you want coverage for damage, you'd need AppleCare+ instead.

How much does AppleCare+ cost? Can I just sign up for it for a month, get the replacement phone, and then drop the coverage?
