I'm currently using a G.Skill DDR5-5600 RAM kit (F5-5600J3036D32G with SK Hynix chips) in my Intel 12900K system. I'm thinking about switching to a 9800X3D and I'm wondering if this RAM is compatible or if I'll need to upgrade.

You should be fine using your DDR5-5600 RAM with the 9800X3D. While the optimal memory speed for this CPU tends to be around 6000 MHz, you'll definitely notice better performance if you push it higher. Just keep in mind that although your RAM will work, you could gain more performance by using faster RAM if you're looking to get the most out of your system.

I've read that 6400 MHz is where the performance starts to plateau, but anything over 6000 seems to deliver solid gains too.

I figured the performance drop would be minor, just wanted to know how much to expect from 5600.
