I'm getting a new iPad from Apple after sending in my old broken one. Normally, they send the new device first, and I can transfer everything over via WiFi. I have a ton of photos and I'm considering paying for a temporary iCloud backup just to save those and then restore it once I get my new iPad. I'm not expecting the backup to remain in iCloud after my subscription ends; I just want to ensure that all my stuff will still be available locally on the new device. I've also thought about backing up to iTunes, but my computer is old and slow, so I'm a bit wary of that. Is this plan okay?

Your plan sounds good! Just remember that when your iCloud subscription lapses, you won’t lose anything that you’ve downloaded to your new iPad. As for the transfer, make sure all your photos are properly backed up before you switch devices. Just check that they’re fully transferred after the backup is complete. It’s also wise to keep that iTunes option just in case, even if your computer isn't the best. Better safe than sorry!
Just a heads up, if you’re planning to use iCloud, ensure that your photos are fully uploaded before your subscription ends. You should be good for local storage once everything is on your new iPad, though! And if there's any data loss, iTune backups can be a lifesaver.
Yeah, totally agree! Also, just check the backup settings in iCloud to make sure that your photos are being included.

Definitely good to have a backup! If you're worried about the computer failing, maybe consider exploring other backup options too, like using an external drive.
