Will My Motherboard Support My New RAM?

Hey everyone! I just picked up some CORSAIR VENGEANCE DDR5 RAM (64GB, 2x32GB, 6400MHz CL32-40-40-84) for a build I'm working on. I'm planning to use the Gigabyte X870 EAGLE WIFI7 ATX AM5 Motherboard alongside a 9800x3D. My question is whether this motherboard can utilize the full speed of my RAM. I couldn't locate any relevant information in the motherboard's QVL, and the manual mentions it supports DDR5 speeds of 5200/4800/4400 MT/s. I've heard that just because a RAM kit isn't on the QVL doesn't mean it won't work, but I'm unsure how to proceed. Any insight would be appreciated! Thanks!

Exactly! The QVL is a guideline, not a strict rule. The RAM you bought is high speed, so it might downclock to match the motherboard’s specifications, but many people have had success running faster RAM. Just make sure to update your BIOS to get the best compatibility!

You're right to be curious about the QVL! It's basically just a list of memory kits that have been tested with the motherboard, but not being on that list doesn't mean your RAM won't work. Many users have had success with unlisted kits, so you should be good!

Thanks! I appreciate the clarification. I was worried since the manual mentioned lower speeds. I guess I also misunderstood the MT/s thing—numbers can be confusing!
