I'm planning to get a Ryzen 9 9950X3D and I want to pair it with an ROG Strix B850-A Gaming WiFi motherboard. Both components have a TDP of 170 watts, but I've heard that during boost or slight overclocking, the power requirements might exceed that. I've read that motherboards can sometimes handle more than their TDP rating, but I'm unsure if this board can sustain those levels for longer durations. Can anyone clarify this?

You should be fine unless your motherboard is a A620 chipset or some rebranded B840. Just a heads-up, you might need to update the BIOS, as it might not support the CPU out of the box even if it's technically compatible.
Asus officially lists your motherboard as compatible with the Ryzen 9 9950X3D, which is a good sign! Manufacturer support is key, so you're in a solid place there.
I've heard some issues with the 9000X3D blowing up on Asrock boards, but I'm not sure how Asus stacks up. It might be worth doing some research on that front.

Wait, what do you mean by 'blowing up'? Did they actually catch fire or something?
