I recently had an accident with my MacBook Pro where my cat chewed on one corner, and now the screen has gone black. It does still show on external displays, but I'm unsure if the one-year warranty will cover this issue since there's a slight crack. Should I go to the Apple Store to check it out, or is it better to take my laptop to a local repair shop if I think the warranty won't help?

Nope, a cat chewing on your laptop isn’t covered under a warranty since it’s not a manufacturing defect. If you have AppleCare+, though, this would be classified as accidental damage, and you’d just pay a $99 fee for repairs. Without that, it’ll likely cost you much more at a repair shop.
The official Limited Warranty doesn’t cover pet-related damages. It specifically states that it only covers hardware defects. You can check the warranty terms [here](https://www.apple.com/legal/warranty/products/embedded-mac-warranty-us.html) for more information. If you have AppleCare+, you should be good to go!
A slight crack is still considered damage, so unfortunately, your warranty won’t cover it. Typically, warranties only cover problems caused by manufacturing defects, not accidental damage like this.
Thanks for confirming! I guess I should consider AppleCare+ for future devices.
