I'm really confused about whether pairing the R5 5600X with a 9060XT (16GB) will lead to a significant bottleneck while gaming at 1080p. I've seen a bunch of discussions on this, but the responses are all over the place—some people say yes, while others claim no. What do you think?

You likely won't see significant bottlenecking. Most games should keep your GPU usage above 90%. It really comes down to the specific games you’re playing, so check out some performance videos to make your own call.

It really varies depending on the game, graphics settings, and resolution. There’s no one-size-fits-all answer here!

Does lowering the graphics quality actually help with CPU bottlenecking?

Answered By BudgetBuilder22 On

At 1080p, bottlenecking can happen based on the game's design. If it's CPU intensive, the R5 5600X may struggle a bit—it’s been out for a while. But don't stress too much, your PC won’t blow up! You might also think about gaming at 1440p to relieve some pressure.

I’m curious... is it a limitation that high-end CPUs and GPUs can bottleneck at lower resolutions? Why can’t we use all that extra power effectively at 1080p?

You shouldn't notice any significant bottleneck.

I've got a Ryzen 7 5700X paired with a 9060XT, and here’s what I see: at 1440p, there’s no bottleneck (GPU usage stays around 99-100%), but at 1080p, I do notice some bottlenecking, often dropping below 70% GPU usage. It might be worth considering your resolution.

What can I do to fix the bottleneck? Should I downgrade my GPU?

FramerateFanatic -

Honestly, at this point, I'm thinking of just living with the bottleneck. I’ll probably still hit frame rates that I’m happy with.

Ultimately, it’s about the games you're playing. The Ryzen 5 5600X handles most CPU-heavy games pretty well at 1080p, but the 9060XT may not reach its full potential.

Generally speaking, you shouldn't worry too much about bottlenecking with that setup. If you're playing CPU-heavy games, though, you might want to consider investing a bit more in your CPU and motherboard instead of going all out on the GPU. Otherwise, the performance should be fine!

If you're aiming for a smooth frame rate, what FPS are you expecting? And what monitor will you be using?

Honestly, I thought Bloodborne was smooth, and that’s capped at 30fps. I’d be happy with anything around 60! Also, I plan to connect it to my TV, lol. I should’ve mentioned I don’t currently own a PC.
