I'm building my first PC with a budget of roughly £2,000. I'd like it to handle high-end gaming, reinforcement-learning software that plays simple games, and video editing. I'm not very experienced with PC hardware, so I'd appreciate advice about compatibility, bottlenecks, and whether any parts should be changed.
Current build:
- Motherboard: Gigabyte B650 Eagle AX
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
- Cooler: Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE Black
- Memory: 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5-6400
- GPU: ASUS Prime GeForce RTX 5070 Ti OC
- PSU: Corsair RM750e 750W
- Case: NZXT H6 Flow
- Storage: Crucial P310 2TB with heatsink
- Extra fan: Arctic P12 Pro
The estimated power draw is about 550W, and the current total is around £2,125. Are there any compatibility problems or obvious bottlenecks, and would a different CPU, memory speed, or power supply make more sense?

For this AMD platform, DDR5-6000 is usually the safer target. It commonly allows the memory controller and fabric to run in a more favorable 1:1 configuration, while DDR5-6400 can require extra tuning and may hurt frame-time consistency if it falls back to less optimal settings. A 32GB DDR5-6000 kit with AMD EXPO support would be a sensible replacement.
The build should generally work, but I’d reconsider the power supply. The 750W unit may be marginal for a system with a high-end GPU, and choosing a reputable 850W ATX 3.0/PCIe 5 model would give you more headroom and native support for modern GPU power connectors. The 9800X3D is also somewhat excessive for an RTX 5070 Ti unless you’re specifically targeting very high-refresh-rate gaming; a cheaper X3D processor could offer better value.

That makes sense. I’m looking at a 32GB DDR5-6000 kit with EXPO support instead, and I’m also considering an 850W fully modular ATX 3.0 power supply.
