Will Upgrading to a Ryzen 5 5600 Really Boost My Valorant FPS?

Hey everyone! I'm currently running a Ryzen 5 PRO 4650G processor along with an MSI A520M PRO-VH motherboard, 16GB of RAM (2x 8GB at 3200 MHz), and an RX 5600 XT GPU. My monitor is a 165 Hz 1080p, and when I play Valorant, my average FPS is around 150. Since my PC is over 5 years old, I'm thinking about upgrading to a Ryzen 5 5600 (non X model). Do you think this upgrade will bump my average FPS to 200 in Valorant? I'm trying to figure out if spending around 5,000 PHP (about 90 USD) is worth it, especially since Valorant is the only game I really play. For now, I can only afford to upgrade the processor, so I'd appreciate it if no one suggests other components. Thanks a lot for any insights you can offer!

Honestly, you might see a pretty significant boost. Some players report going over 300 FPS with the 5600, especially if everything else in your setup is in good shape. Just make sure your GPU is connected properly, though, because 150 FPS sounds more like what you’d get with the 4650G's integrated graphics rather than the RX 5600 XT. It’s essential to plug your monitor into the GPU output!

Thanks for clarifying that! I definitely checked, and the monitor is connected to the GPU. It's just puzzling why I'm capped at 150 FPS. Could my recent upgrade to Windows 11 be affecting performance?

While the Ryzen 7 5700X is a great choice, the 5600 will actually give you a similar single-thread performance, which is key for Valorant. More cores won’t translate directly into better FPS for this game. You're looking at a solid choice here!

Good to know that the 5600 will still do the job! I was just stuck on a tighter budget and can only swing for that upgrade right now.

You should definitely expect at least a decent uptick in FPS after the upgrade. But have you been monitoring your system's temps and performance post-Windows 11 upgrade? Sometimes, new OS installs can impact graphics performance if settings aren’t optimized.
