I'm thinking about upgrading my GPU to an RTX 4060, but I'm concerned about potential bottlenecking with my current setup. Here's what I have:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700x
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super
- Motherboard: MSI MPG X570 Gaming Plus
- RAM: Corsair 36GB (16GB sticks)
Do you think my current CPU will hold back the performance of the 4060, or is it fine to stick with it for now? If an upgrade is necessary, which CPU model would you recommend? I'm not very tech-savvy, so any help would be appreciated!

Your CPU is decent and should handle a 4060 without much trouble, but if you do consider upgrading, you might want to look at the Ryzen 5000 series. Although, swapping out your CPU right now isn’t urgent. If your budget allows, you could also try hunting down a good deal on a used 4070 or 4070 Ti instead, as that would offer a better performance boost than just the 4060.
Upgrading to the RTX 4060 should work fine with your Ryzen 7 3700x, but keep in mind the 4060 isn't a massive step up. If you want a more significant boost, consider waiting for something better down the line or even aim for a better GPU like the 4070 when you can. Just getting the 4060 might not give you the performance leap you’re hoping for.
Yeah, I get that. I just want to make sure I can play upcoming games like Death Stranding 2 without issues.
So would I need to prioritize the CPU upgrade over the GPU upgrade?
