I'm really struggling with WSUS lately and could use some input. Since the last Patch Day, I'm facing a ton of issues. Clients aren't reporting anymore, and I'm seeing that 90% of them show up as 'Not Installed' despite being approved. I'm also getting constant download errors, and believe me, the problems don't stop there.
I've checked the SQL database, and it's clean. The approvals, GPOs, and IIS configurations all seem correct, except for this bizarre issue where SelfUpdate doesn't work on any server, whether upstream or downstream. Honestly, I'm at my wits' end here!

If you’re still using WSUS, keep in mind that it isn’t the most user-friendly service out there. If you're not confident handling it yourself, maybe get in touch with a system admin who can help. It could save you from a lot of frustration.
Sounds like you might need to take a deep dive into the workstation settings. WSUS is mainly about managing updates locally, so if the content is there and approved but the clients aren’t installing properly, it might be a connectivity or policy issue on the client side. Have you verified that the clients are correctly communicating with the WSUS server?
I get that WSUS can be a pain, but don’t toss it yet! It can be tricky, especially when clients start acting up after updates. What versions of Windows are the problematic PCs running? It might help to know what you’re dealing with.
Honestly, I’m with the folks who say to stop relying on WSUS. It’s been nothing but trouble for a lot of people. Have you thought about switching to MS Update Online instead? Might save you a lot of headaches!
