I often get pingbacks pop up in the comment section of the WordPress dashboard. How do you turn these off? I do not want to ping websites back when they mention my blog. IS there a way to stop these comments from showing up?

Go into settings->Discussion . This will load up the options you can configure for discussion settings in wordpress. Near the top you will see a check box with "Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks) on new articles" written on it. If you uncheck this, pingbacks will be disabled on your website.
