Is the x3D CPU a game-changer for sim racing?

I'm diving into sim racing games like Le Mans Ultimate and Assetto Corsa, and I've come across a lot of talk about the x3D CPU making a significant impact on gameplay. I'm deciding between the 7800x3D at $525 or the 9700x for $358. I'm also considering pairing these with either a 5070 Ti or a 9070 XT. I often play in VR, which I think plays into this decision. The difference in price is considerable, and I just want to make sure I'm not limiting my build if the x3D offers real benefits.

Just a heads up, don’t rush to spend $525 on the 7800x3D. If you can wait, you might find the 9800x3D for a better price, especially since stocks are surprisingly good in some regions.

That’s true! Prices for the 9800x3D can vary, but I’ve seen it under $640 in some places, which is definitely more reasonable.

Definitely worth researching benchmarks yourself! Many sim racing games don't get included in standard tests. ACC does show the x3D's strengths, but it’s not the only option if you're looking for a strong CPU.

Yeah, it's key to find benchmarks at the resolution you plan to play at—4K or 3440x1440p can change things significantly.

For sim racing, it’s not necessarily a must-have. The standard 7000 and 9000 series CPUs are very capable too. While the x3D is excellent, you won’t be missing out on the basics with the others, especially if you're on a budget.

Exactly! They perform quite well for sim racing, especially at lower settings.

Going with the x3D makes a massive difference in sim racing, especially when it comes to reducing stutters. Benchmarks don't tell the whole story unless you really understand what you're looking at. I had a friend with a 7600X, and after seeing my 7800X3D in action, they switched to a 9800X3D, which has made their gaming experience night and day better.
