Dual Booting Linux and Windows: How Do I Set It Up?

I'm planning to switch to Linux but want to ease into it by setting up a dual boot system. My idea is to install Linux on one drive for general use while keeping Windows on a separate drive just for gaming until I get the hang of Linux. I have a couple of questions regarding the setup: First, last time I tried dual booting, I had to go into the BIOS every time to select which drive to boot from—can I set it up to choose at startup instead? Secondly, I'm considering Linux Mint as my distro; will it have the necessary drivers for my hardware to work smoothly? Here are my specs: AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 32GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060, and two SSDs (2TB Samsung and 465GB Crucial). Lastly, I noticed that my aux input didn't work during my last attempt—what could I have done wrong?

You can totally dual boot without messing around in the BIOS every time. Just install Linux Mint on your 465GB Crucial SSD while keeping Windows on the 2TB Samsung SSD. When you install Mint, it should detect Windows and set up the GRUB bootloader on your Crucial drive. Just make sure the Crucial SSD is the first boot option in your BIOS once, and then GRUB will let you choose between Mint and Windows each time you boot up! Easy peasy.

As for the drivers, Mint is a great choice! It typically comes with a lot of drivers included, but double-check the compatibility for your specific hardware, especially for the NVIDIA graphics card. It's usually pretty straightforward, but you might need to install proprietary drivers for the best performance.

Regarding the aux input issues, check if the proper audio drivers are installed in Linux. Sometimes, audio settings need to be manually configured after installation. Also, ensure your hardware connections are secure. It’s a common oversight.
