I just noticed that my Chrome browser switched from Google to Yahoo without my knowledge. At first, I thought Google had changed something, but after looking it up, I'm concerned about it being a browser hijacker. I reset my browser, cleared my cache and cookies, and ran a basic virus scan with Windows Defender, which reported no issues. This is the first time this has happened, and I haven't downloaded anything suspicious lately or visited any strange websites that I remember. I'm also without any dedicated virus protection on this computer, just the basic one that comes with Windows. Should I be worried about this hijack, or is it something minor?

Not sure, have you tried asking Jeeves?
I had a similar issue when I started using my new laptop. Honestly, I wouldn’t stress too much. A browser hijacker that only changes your default search engine is usually just adware. It’s set up to make money off the ads you see. My basic Windows antivirus didn’t catch it either, but I downloaded Malwarebytes, which got rid of the hijacker. The free version works well!
who/what is Jeeves lol
