Help! My HDD Isn’t Detected by My MSI B550M Pro Motherboard

I'm having an issue with my MSI B550M Pro VDH Wi-Fi motherboard. My hard drive was working just fine yesterday, but today it's not being detected at all on any of the SATA ports. It still appears in the Device Manager but doesn't show up in the Windows Explorer or BIOS. I've already updated the BIOS and tried changing the SATA cable, and the hard drive works perfectly fine when connected to another desktop. What could be causing this problem?

Sounds like you might be dealing with a malfunctioning hard drive or a connection problem. First, check if the drive is initialized in Disk Management. If it's uninitialized, right-click to initialize it, then create a partition and give it a drive letter. If it doesn’t show in BIOS, ensure that all physical connections are snug, and try a different SATA port if you can. If everything’s plugged in and it’s still not recognized, your hard drive might be faulty.

There's a good video on troubleshooting drives like this. You might find it helpful: [YouTube Video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76pAKsBlaHA)

I had similar issues before. Seems like your BIOS isn't detecting the drive at all. Since you mentioned frequent power cuts, there's a chance the drive got damaged during one of those outages. Check Disk Management to see if it shows up there as uninitialized. If it shows only 3GB for a 2TB drive, that typically indicates a problem. If it's not working in BIOS, you might need to replace the drive, especially if it works on another system but not this one.

Yeah, if it's showing an I/O error, that’s not a good sign. Unfortunately, you might have to consider data recovery options if the drive is important.
