Why is Avast Secure Browser taking up 36GB of space when I’ve never used it?

I've had Avast Antivirus (the free version) installed on my PC for about two years, and I think it automatically installed the Avast Secure Browser. Now, as I'm trying to free up space for a game, I discovered that this browser is taking up a whopping 36GB! I haven't even opened it. I reinstalled the browser, and now it shows it's only using 820MB. Can someone explain what's going on here?

Honestly, I would just uninstall that browser. There are many better options out there, and it seems like Avast is just making things heavier with bloatware since they were acquired by Norton.

Totally agree! Windows Defender does a great job on its own, so you might not even need Avast anymore.

That's pretty surprising! Sometimes, browser updates and cache files can pile up without you realizing it, especially if it's not a browser you use. You might want to check for any hidden files or temp files that Avast has been storing.

Yeah, I've noticed that can happen with other browsers too, just like you can find old files in the temp folders.

You could also be dealing with leftover update files that didn't clean up after themselves. It's a common issue with many programs, especially on Windows.

If you're checking the space used through Windows Settings, be aware that those numbers can be really off sometimes. Try using disk space analysis tools like WizTree to get a clearer picture of what’s really eating up space.
