Hey everyone! I'm 16 and planning to dive into coding this summer. The only laptop I have is an old Mac running macOS High Sierra, which I'm not very familiar with. I also have a bent iPad, but I'm not sure if it's suitable for coding. I'm on a super tight budget—maybe up to $250, but I might not even have that much to spend. Should I invest in a new laptop from brands like ASUS, Lenovo, or HP, or would it be better to just buy a Bluetooth keyboard for my iPad? What do you think?

For sure, you can definitely start learning with your Mac. It's quite capable. You might consider learning languages like Python or Ruby, which are great for beginners. And if you ever want to upgrade later, you could look into a Raspberry Pi for a low-cost solution!
Exactly! Plus, you'll have a fun project to work on when you set it up.
Honestly, that old Mac is just fine for getting started with coding! You could even install Linux on it since it's probably an Intel-based Mac. That way, you’d have a more modern environment compared to any cheap $200 laptop. Just check to see if you can upgrade the RAM to at least 8GB for better performance.
Absolutely, you can learn coding on that Mac! Most basic coding tasks are not resource-intensive, so you’ll be able to write code without any issues, even if the compile times are a bit slower. Just give it a shot and see how it goes!
And you can connect to the Raspberry Pi from your old Mac, which solves that keyboard problem without additional costs!
