I've got an old Iiyama 24 inch monitor that's about 12 years old, and it just started making a weird crackling sound, kind of like it's arcing. Since I work in tech, I've never dealt with this kind of issue before. The monitor uses CCFL backlights, so I'm wondering if the bulb is finally going out. The noise seems to be coming from the top back area of the monitor, not from any speakers.

You'd think someone in tech would know how to look things up, right? But honestly, if it's a CCFL monitor, those can definitely start making noises as they age. I’d say it's time to consider a replacement! You can find budget options on eBay or even local second-hand shops for under £30.
I’d recommend replacing it if you can. CCFLs are notorious for dying out, and while it might be tempting to fix it, a new monitor could be a better investment long-term. Plus, there are great deals out there for something like a 27 inch!
Yeah, I'm seriously considering that upgrade. It might be just what I need!
That sounds like a solid plan! If you're already thinking of upgrading to something bigger, now might be the perfect time to make that jump.
