Hey everyone! I need some help with my 2015 Acer laptop. I'm planning to ditch Windows 10 because after the latest update, my WiFi signal is always low, and I'm fed up. I want to install Linux but I'm not necessarily looking for a lightweight option. I just need something that will give me great hardware support and not be bogged down by power-saving features. My laptop specs are an i3-4005U CPU at 1.7GHz, 16GB RAM, 446GB SSD, and Intel HD Graphics. If anyone has suggestions for a solid Linux distro that can help me maximize my WiFi performance and run smoothly, that would be much appreciated!

Hey! I recommend trying a live USB version of Linux before you commit to an installation. It keeps your current Windows setup intact while you test things out. Ventoy is a great tool for this since it lets you boot multiple Linux distros without hassle. Check out some popular options like Debian or Linux Mint to see if they fit your needs. Just boot, explore, and then come back with any questions you have. Trust me, it's worth it! Also, cookies await on the Dark Side!

Thanks for the tips! I've heard about Ventoy, but I wasn't sure if I could use any distro. Can I really throw any .ISO on there?

That video you shared was super helpful! The guy really breaks it down well, and his humor makes it fun to watch.

For a reliable experience, I’d suggest trying Linux Mint with the Cinnamon desktop or MX Linux with Xfce. Both are known for being user-friendly and should work well with your specs. If neither of those clicks, Fedora is also worth considering. Just give a couple of them a test run, and see which one you like best!
