I'm considering installing Pop!_OS on one of my laptops. I've used Ubuntu and Lubuntu in the past, and I've heard that Pop!_OS is built on Ubuntu but has a different look and feels faster. Can anyone explain what differences and similarities exist between them? Are they both using the same package manager? Do they support the same software? What about keyboard shortcuts like Alt + Tab? Do they face similar issues?

Honestly, there are a lot of similarities since both are based on Ubuntu! But if you want to find what you like, best thing is to just test them both out. I personally liked Mint better after trying several options. It's really about what feels right for you!

I feel you on that! Tried a few and settled on Mint too. The aesthetic of Pop!_OS wasn't really my vibe, to be honest.

So, Pop!_OS is developed by System76, a company that builds Linux PCs. They want to offer a smooth experience, which is why they've added some extra features. Both Pop!_OS and Ubuntu use the GNOME desktop, but they tweak it a bit differently. And as for package managers, they're almost identical since Pop!_OS is based on Ubuntu. You might find some different software pre-installed, but it’s basically Ubuntu dressed up differently!

While I usually don't love the 'try everything' approach to picking a distro, it's honestly a good way to find what suits you. I've played around with a few distros myself. I've heard that Pop!_OS comes preloaded with more apps out of the box, which could make it better for working or gaming right away!
