So, I've got an iPad 2 that was bought back in 2012, and my nephew just tried entering the wrong password too many times. Now it says, "iPad is disabled, connect to iTunes." I'm really worried about the data on it because it's packed with important stuff. I need to know: is my data definitely gone, or is there a chance I can just input the right password? I honestly don't care about the iPad itself, just whatever's on it. Also, it's running a pretty old version of iOS, probably not updated since 2019 or 2020. If there's any hope of retrieving my data, I'd love to hear it; if not, I won't waste any more time. 😐

I recommend reaching out to Apple. They deal with situations like these all the time and can help verify ownership and potentially recover your data. Just be prepared, as they might ask for some proof that it's your device.
Don't give up just yet! Your data might still be recoverable. I found some steps online that could help you get past the disabled screen and see if your files are still there. Definitely worth a shot! Here’s a link that explains how: https://www.lifewire.com/fix-disabled-ipad-with-connect-to-itunes-error-5224806#:~:text=An%20iPad%20can%20become%20disabled
But does it really matter if the data is gone or not? If it's been overwritten, there's no hope anyway. I'm just trying to gauge if contacting Apple is worth it or not.
