I've been using Pop!_OS for a while now and I'm getting a little bored with it. I'm thinking of installing a new distro, possibly something based on Arch. My question is, can I replace my current Pop!_OS installation with a new distro without losing my existing home user folder? I'd like to keep using the same user account for the new distro if possible. Also, if you have any recommendations for interesting or newer distros, that would be great! I've previously used Ubuntu, Pop!_OS, and Manjaro.

Your home folder does have those hidden files (like .config) that are specific to the OS and apps, so be prepared for some adjustments with the new distro. If needed, you can just delete those files and let the new system create them fresh. But overall, yes, you can manage it! Just be cautious with what you keep.
Honestly, losing your home folder might actually give you a fresh start if you're really bored. But I totally get wanting to keep your stuff—after all, it’s like a collection of your journey! Just figure out what’s really important to you before making the leap.
You should definitely back up your home folder before making the switch to a new distro. That way, you won't risk losing any important data. Just remember, some settings may not transfer smoothly since your home folder contains plenty of hidden directories that hold specific config settings for your current OS and applications.
