Why Can’t I Open This PDF on Linux Without Adobe?

I'm having trouble opening a specific PDF on my Linux system. The document reader gives me a message saying it must be opened with Adobe Acrobat or Reader. The PDF's properties indicate it was produced by Adobe Acrobat Pro. Is it possible that the PDF was altered in a way that locks it to Adobe products? Also, when I try to open it, it just displays a page with an icon saying "For optimal viewing of this PDF portfolio, it should be opened in Acrobat or Adobe Reader version X or higher," along with a button to download Adobe Reader. I appreciate any advice on how I can open this PDF on Linux since Okular isn't working for me. Thanks!

You can try opening the PDF with your web browser like Firefox or Chrome since they both have built-in PDF viewers. This might work if other PDF programs aren’t cutting it.

I've had similar issues before, but I usually prefer using Xournal++ for PDFs since it has editing features. You might also want to try LibreOffice Draw or other dedicated PDF viewers to see if they can handle the file.

Just be careful with LibreOffice though; I've run into some language issues with it. Might be worth a shot still!
