Should I Be Concerned About My IP Address Displaying on My Forum?

I was using my personal forum and noticed that my IP address appeared next to my username when I made a post. As an admin, is this something that typically happens, or should I be worried about being doxxed? For safety, I've deleted the forum, but I want to understand if this is a common practice among admins.

You're good! The most that can happen is someone finding your general location based on your IP. But it should only be visible to you as an admin or mod.

Okay, but could anyone else access it?

Exposing your IP isn't really doxxing. It's just a display feature. As an admin, it probably shows your public IP to help with moderation. Generally, you're safe.

But isn't there a risk if others can see it?

Yep, this is normal! Admins/mods often see IPs for all posts. It's not public info; only you as a mod can view it.

Thanks for clarifying!
