I'm looking for some recommendations on Linux distros since I'm a gamer and content creator using a laptop with an RTX 4060 and an Intel i7 13700HX. I'm considering a few options: SteamOS, Bazzite OS, ZorinOS, and QubesOS (although I know Qubes is quite advanced for newbies). I want a distro that can deliver high frame rates, run Davinci Resolve smoothly, and be suited for day-to-day use. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Have you looked at CachyOS? It's super optimized for performance and installs easily. I tried running some games using Proton on it, and it worked like a charm; I barely had to fiddle with anything. Just keep an eye on the Arch homepage for system updates, as there can occasionally be issues that you need to address!
Yeah, I just installed CachyOS myself! It's pretty sweet so far, and the repositories are great for setting up game-related stuff. Just make sure to read up on any updates before you go ahead with them!
Honestly, most distros should work fine for what you're looking to do, but definitely steer clear of SteamOS unless you're just gaming on a handheld. For your needs, Bazzite OS might be a solid choice, though regular Fedora with the KDE desktop could also serve you well. Just be cautious with running Davinci Resolve; check which distros they officially support first!
I agree with you on that. Specific support for Resolve is essential, I'd do my research there just to avoid any headaches.
Yeah, in general, avoid SteamOS for anything beyond gaming. It’s just not made for desktops, especially with Nvidia GPUs.
I’m pretty new to this, but I agree with PerformanceNerd—Cachy is running smoothly so far, and it’s easy enough for beginners!
