I've finally decided to give Linux a shot on my old laptop. Initially, I thought about using a virtual machine, but I realized dual-booting might be better since I want to keep Windows 10 on there just in case my laptop fails. I'm diving into Linux mainly to learn how to use it (especially the terminal) and for everyday tasks. I'm considering trying Ubuntu or Debian as my first distro, but I'm unsure which one is best. Here are my laptop specs: AMD Ryzen 5 2500U, 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB SSD, and integrated AMD Radeon Vega graphics.

I'd recommend trying out Linux Mint! It's user-friendly and great for newcomers. But if you're up for it, give MX Linux a shot too! It's also quite solid.
One cool thing about MX Linux is that you can try it without installing anything—just run it from a live USB!
