I'm in the process of building a new PC and I'm trying to decide between the RTX 5070 with 12GB of VRAM or the RX 9070XT which has 16GB of VRAM. Do you think 12GB will be sufficient for a few years of gaming, or should I go for the 9070XT?

It really depends on what games you play and the resolution you’ll be gaming at. Personally, I wouldn’t even consider a card with just 12GB anymore. We’re starting to see games that already max out 16GB cards these days.
I typically play FPS shooters, so should I just go with the 9070XT for that?
People here really overthink VRAM. Yes, 12GB is plenty for now. Don’t let anyone panic you into thinking otherwise.
But I'm worried about needing an upgrade in a couple of years while gaming at 2K ultrawide. Is the 5070 with 12GB still a good idea?
If you're planning on playing at 1440p or 4K with high settings, 12GB won't cut it. I'd suggest going with the 9070XT for sure.

12GB is ample for 1440p ultra settings, but ray tracing can be demanding. 16GB might still be safer.
I think you'd be fine with 12GB for most games at 1080p and even 1440p for a few years. Just pick the RX 9070 if it’s not too pricey to get a bit more headroom.
