Can I Use Coax for Internet Connection Instead of WiFi?

I recently moved into a house with new roommates, and my PC's WiFi adapter seems to have stopped working. Since my room only has a coax cable and what looks like a phone line (no Ethernet), I'm curious if I can connect to the existing internet using coax. The house already has internet service, and I brought my own modem and router with me. Is it possible to set up the internet this way, or do I need to consider other options?

Before you do anything, make sure you get permission from your housemates or the landlord. They might have specific ways the internet is set up. If the existing network is managed, they may not be comfortable with you tinkering with it. If you're looking for alternatives, a new WiFi adapter could be a quick fix—there are plenty of affordable options out there.

If you're looking for a way to go wired, you might want to check out a DECA adapter. It's not too expensive and offers decent reliability, though it only supports speeds up to 100mbps. You can find them online easily, just make sure to look for one like this: https://www.amazon.com/PACK-Broadband-Ethernet-Generation-Supplies/dp/B01AYMGPIO

It sounds like your built-in WiFi could be the issue. Have you tried using a USB WiFi adapter? They can be a lifesaver, especially if your internal adapter isn't working well. Some of them are really cheap and can give you faster speeds than what you're currently getting.
