My PC keeps shutting down unexpectedly – could it be the PSU or motherboard?

Lately, I've been experiencing random shutdowns with my custom-built PC. It sometimes shuts down just seconds after booting, while other times it runs fine for days. When it does shut down, the fans stop, and I lose monitor signal, but the GPU, RAM, and other devices still have their lights on. The only way to turn it off completely is by using the PSU switch, as the power button doesn't respond. I took it to a shop recently, and they ran benchmarks overnight but found nothing wrong. My event logs mostly show that the shutdown was unexpected, but I can't tell if that's when everything stops or just when I shut it off. I've swapped the power cable and plugged it directly into the wall, but I'm still having issues. People have suggested it might be the PSU or motherboard, but I'm not sure how to pinpoint the cause. Here are my specs: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, X870 Gaming X WIFI7 motherboard, Sapphire Nitro+ AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT GPU, SilverStone ST1200-PTS power supply, Thermalright Aqua Elite 360 ARGB V3 fan, and G.Skill 16GB Trident Z5 Neo RGB RAM.

Try disabling fast startup in the power options and choose what the power buttons do, then restart. Sometimes that can help resolve unexpected shutdowns.

Have you checked the system logs in the Event Viewer? They often show errors that can help identify the issue. My first suggestion would be to double-check all your cables to ensure they’re securely connected. Good luck!
