I'm considering switching to Arch Linux after using Debian Trixie for about six months. I've been using Linux regularly since 2017 or 2018 but I'm not a power user—just a typical desktop user who's familiar with common terminal commands and file structures. I mainly use my laptop, which has no dedicated GPU, for work tasks and playing small 2D games like Dwarf Fortress and Stardew Valley. Since I don't customize my desktop much and my use case is average, I'm wondering if Arch might be too complex for me or if I should start with something like Manjaro or EndeavoRus first.

Honestly, the biggest thing you'll learn about using Arch is making sure to mention it anytime you get the chance! On a serious note, the installation is actually a lot easier with the 'archinstall' script, and it helps you set up your system without needing too much prior knowledge. Just be prepared for some frequent updates. And if you’re worried about bricking your laptop, I totally understand that concern. It’s good practice to be cautious!
I think if you're considering Arch out of curiosity, that's a solid reason! You'll get full control over your setup since you handpick everything. My first time with Arch wasn't as scary as I thought; the 'archinstall' script really simplifies the process. Just take your time, and you'll get the hang of it!
That sounds like a fun challenge! Just make sure you follow the instructions step-by-step, and don't be afraid to experiment.
The ArchWiki is your best friend—it's packed with everything you need to know about Arch Linux. Just be ready for a bit of a learning curve since the setup can take time and patience. As for whether Arch is too much for you, given your experience since 2017, I think you can handle it!
AUR is a game-changer when it comes to software availability. Just keep in mind you'll have updates coming in frequently, which is not an issue if you're used to managing them. It sounds like you have a good enough grasp on Linux to give Arch a shot if you're ready for a bit of manual tinkering!
Haha! "I use Arch, by the way" would work great on Tinder!
