Received a Scary Email from My Own Account – Is It a Spyware Scam?

Hey everyone, I recently got an email that looks like it came from my own email address, and it's a pretty unsettling message. It claims to be from a spyware program called Pegasus, which supposedly monitors my activities and says it has some very private videos of me. The email is demanding money in exchange for deleting the supposed footage, and I'm super freaked out. I primarily use an iPhone and haven't noticed anything unusual, but I'm still worried. Is this just a scam, or should I really be concerned about spyware?

It’s likely a spoofed email, meaning they made it look like it came from your address. This is common in social engineering scams. Just stay calm and delete it.

But I don't like the idea of someone faking my address!

No need to panic! This sounds like a typical spam scare tactic designed to intimidate you into giving up money. Just ignore it and delete the email.

But how can it send from my own address?

Honestly, it’s all just a scam. Spoofing email addresses is pretty easy for fraudsters, so just trash that message and move on. No spyware worries here!
