Feeling Lost in My Programming Journey—Need Guidance

I've been trying to learn programming for about three years, and while I started off with a lot of enthusiasm, I often feel overwhelmed by the endless resources and the complexity involved. Life got in the way with A-Levels, and I stopped coding. Now, I'm broke and unemployed, and I'm trying to learn programming again—not just as a hobby but as a way to support myself and my family. I've attempted several resources like the FreeCodeCamp YouTube tutorials, Harvard's CS50 Python course, and even tackled FreeCodeCamp's full stack web development course. I've also read some Python and C++ books, but despite all this effort, I feel stuck. It's hard to know where to start building something useful, especially with no mentors or community support. I just want to turn my life around through programming and would really appreciate any guidance or structure that could help me. I'm feeling pretty lost!

I get that learning programming can be stressful, especially when you're tying it to generating income. For me, having a creative motivator helps! I love building things to solve my own problems. Pick a course and finish it, but also work on a side project that excites you! Think about what you want your end result to be, and keep pushing until you achieve it. It’s all about completing something, no matter how small.

You're right about how vast IT is! It can be overwhelming, and it's easy to jump from topic to topic without making real progress. Try to pinpoint a clear goal and stick to it. That focus will help you direct your learning efforts and truly develop your skills.

Have you completed any of the courses you've mentioned? It really helps to commit to one solid resource and stick with it. Programming is just like any other skill; it requires practice! When you get stuck, push through! Ask questions, Google things, do whatever it takes to get past that bump. Don't jump between different courses—focus on finishing one. Over time, you’ll see your progress.
