Can I Use Glacier Deep Archive Through the S3 Web Interface Without Any Issues?

Hey everyone! I've been exploring cloud storage options to keep my valuable files safe, like photos and old documents from my early computer days. I'm particularly interested in using Glacier Deep Archive because it's cost-effective, and ideally, I don't want to interact too much with these backups since I have copies stored on various media. I noticed that most resources online focus on using command-line tools or third-party applications, but I've been able to navigate the Amazon S3 web interface to manage my files, create buckets, and even upload a test gigabyte of data to the Glacier Deep Archive. My question is, is there any downside to handling my backups this way through the web interface? I find it odd that there's not much talk about this method, and I'd rather avoid getting dependent on third-party software that might not be reliable in the future. Thanks for all your insights!

Just to clarify, the AWS CLI is actually an official tool from Amazon, not a third-party app, and it’s not going anywhere. As for managing files via the web interface, the main trade-off is time. If you're manually uploading backups, there’s a risk of mistakes which could lead to problems later when you need to restore. Automating the process can save you from potential issues down the line.

Got it, and thanks for clarifying about the CLI! For now, I manage my files in large blocks with parity files, so I won’t have to deal with lots of tiny uploads. Appreciate the help!
