Are Third-Party Repositories Safe for Installing Software?

I've been using Fedora Workstation for quite a while, and I'm interested in installing Mullvad VPN. To do this, I need to download their repository, but I'm a bit concerned about the safety of third-party repositories in general. Are there risks involved, and is this particular repository considered safe?

Are you worried about adding any third-party repo in general, or is it just about this one? Remember, adding a third-party repo carries risks, like potential malware or broken packages. But since this repo is from Mullvad, it should be one of the safer options.

Nothing's ever 100% safe, but I consider Mullvad's repository pretty trustworthy. They've got a solid reputation, which helps. Just be cautious with unknown sources, as not all repositories are created equal.

Generally speaking, it's about trust. When you use Fedora, you rely on maintainers for valid packages. If you trust Mullvad, then adding their repo is likely fine, just be aware of potential risks and verify the source.

I'd personally download the RPM file directly rather than adding the repository. It's just a precaution I take.

It's safe enough, but you need to be careful. I trust Mullvad, though I don’t use their app. I prefer importing the WireGuard config directly into my network manager, which gives a reliable experience.
